It’s far from The Last Waltz for these rockers.
With the incredible line-up of former members of The Band, The Weight Band rocks the Main Stage of Isis Music Hall Friday, Sept. 28.
“I love the town of Asheville,” said Jim Weider, guitar, mandolin & vocals, and former member of The Band. “It reminds me of my hometown Woodstock, NY in the Catskill Mountains – like a southern version, with artistic, creative people in a beautiful setting and very musical.”
With Asheville as the only North Carolina stop on their national tour, fans can expect much more than them just taking a load off.
These icons of Aquarian will be performing off their new album, World Gone Mad and classic Band songs like Cripple Creek, The Weight, The Night They Drove Old Dixie down and many more… continuing the legacy of the Woodstock sound.
Originated in 2013 inside the famed Woodstock, New York barn of Levon Helm, The Weight Band brings together Jim Weider and Randy Ciarlante — both former members of The Band —and Byron Isaacs, Brian Mitchell and Marty Grebb to carry on song of the unforgettable rock band.
The Weight Band has since added Albert Rogers, Michael Bram and Matt Zeiner to make up their current lineup, featuring songs from The Band’s treasured catalog as well as new original tracks that complement The Band’s timeless legacy.
“The audience can expect to hear their favorite Classic Band songs and songs from our new album World Gone Mad,” Weider said. “There’s five vocalists and we share the songs around with each other, trading verses and all amazing instrumental soloists in their own right, from accordion to mandolin to harp to electric instruments.”
Released in 2018, their new album World Gone Mad is an Americana/Roots Rock masterpiece of the Woodstock sound – proving you’re never too old to rock-n-roll.
Tickets are $30 in advance/$35 day of show. Grab yours at www.isisasheville.com or call the box office at 828-575-2737.
