“Cooking with Tea” Class Steeps Culinary Exploration

Explore the culinary adventures this Fall in cooking with some of the most flavorful ingredients in the world.

Ivory Road Café and Kitchen, in collaboration with Asheville Tea Company and Vipe Ripe Nutrition, host a very special evening class “Cooking with Tea” Thursday, Sept. 20 from 6 p.m. – 8 p.m.

“To me, cooking with tea is like using fresh herbs in your cooking, but stepping it up a notch with bouquets of layered flavors instead of just single flavors,” said Jill Wasilewski, owner and chef at Ivory Road Kitchen.  “The possibilities are almost endless, and it’s such an interesting culinary aspect to explore.”

“Cooking with Tea” brings a hand-on cooking class taught by this trio of experts. The tea-centric menu includes fresh salad with homemade dressing, vegetable risotto, tea panna cotta, tea chocolates and more. The evening is followed by a family-style meal. A glass of wine and of course, tea, is included.

“Incorporating tea into your meal routine can be a great way to play with new and unique ingredients and cooking methods, and add a boost of health to your meal,” said Jessie Dean, of Asheville Tea Company.  “I think this event would make a wonderful date night or an incredibly unique evening out with friends.”

Participants will sample unique tea blends, including their nearly released Fall 2018 seasonals, learn about Asheville Tea Company’s locally-sourced teas and tisanes, and how to cook a full meal that features these herbaceous, savory and splendid ingredients.
