Mountain Heart brings the bluegrass beehive to Asheville

They’ve been described as the “bluegrass beehive,” a group of musicians fearlessly revolutionizing the way acoustic music is played.

And on Friday, May 4, Mountain Heart will bring their vivacious energy to the stage as they swarm Isis Music Hall.

“We’ve been described quite a bit as bluegrass on overdrive, or the bluegrass beehive bc we are always running around in circles and going crazy on stage,” said Josh Shilling, lead vocalist and guitar. “People can certainly expect insane musicianship with a lot of energy and a lot of excitement.”

Widely known throughout the music industry for redefining the boundaries of acoustic music, Mountain Heart has been synonymous with cutting-edge excellence since the group’s creation in 1999.

The full band, Mountain Heart, or members have been nominated for numerous Grammy’s, ACM, CMA awards and won multiple IBMA’s. They have also appeared on the revered stage of the Grand Ole Opry over 130 times.

While the accolades continue to mount, the upcoming Isis Music Hall show remains quite near and dear to the hearts of the band.

“We grew up doing Shindig on the Green and hanging out in Asheville,” said Shilling. ”We just love the city more than anything. We’ve played Diana Wortham and Bele Chere, but have never played Isis and we have wanted to for quite sometime. So this show will be very special to us.”
